Biography
He was buried at Everton Church in Bedfordshire UK. His cousin was Captain Sir John Palliser who explored western Canada. Another cousin invented the Palliser Shell used in British Ordnance. His uncle on his mother's side was Captain Marryat RN the well-known author.
 
Military Service
He entered the Royal Navy in 1852. He was appointed as a Midshipman RN. He served in the trenches in the Crimean War 1854-1855. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 26/11/1859). He was appointed as a Commander RN (With seniority dated 15/02/1869). He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 25/03/1878). He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 26/04/1893). He was appointed as Commander-in-Chief HM Ships and Vessels on the Pacific Station (Flag in H.M.S. Imperieuse) 1896. (He was retired on 22/06/1899). He was appointed as a Vice-Admiral (Retired) RN (With seniority dated 13/07/1899). He was appointed as an Admiral (Retired) RN in 1904.
