He was living in St. John's NL at the time of his recruitment into the navy. He was the President of M.A. Parsons Ltd. In St. John's NF.

He was appointed as Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 1959). He served in HMCS Cabot for UNTD 1958-1960. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/09/1962). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/10/1963). He served in HMCS Cabot 1963. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 21/01/1966). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (NR) (With seniority dated 01/01/1981). He was appointed as a AdC to Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland. (He was released.)
