Biography
As a child, Donald moved with his family to Canada in 1951, first to Toronto, and then to Montreal. He studied economics at University of New Brunswick (Honours 1965). He was living in Baie D'Urfe QC at the time of his recruitment. He taught in Tunisia and Montreal before moving to Halifax in 1975. There he was founding director of the Centre for International Business at Dalhousie University; he built his career as a Professor in the School of Business, serving a term as Director. From 1980 - 1982, he took a leave from Dalhousie University and moved his family to Jakarta, Indonesia, where he served as a Trade Commissioner in the Canadian Embassy. He also taught for six summers at the University of Zimbabwe in the 1980s
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 1960). He served in HMCS Brunswicker for UNTD 1960-1961. He served in HMCS Cornwallis 1961. He served in HMCS Fort Erie for sea training 1961. He served in HMCS Swansea for Sea Training 1962. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/07/1963). He served in HMCS Brunswicker 1963. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (RCN(R)). (He was released in 1965.)
