Biography
He was living in St. John's NL at the time of his recruitment. He graduated from Memorial University with his BSc (1963) and MSc (1965) and in 1983 he received a business management certificate from the University of Manitoba. He had a 30 year career with the Federal government's Department of Fisheries and Oceans working with many different people and in diverse locations primarily in the north. He was first a fisheries biologist working on Arctic Char and Atlantic salmon on the Newfoundland and Labrador coast before moving to Winnipeg in 1972. Based at the Freshwater Institute he started as a project biologist helping to manage the Arctic Char populations of Arctic Canada from the Hudson Bay coast to Baffin Island to the high Arctic coast and islands. As his career progressed he assumed positions of increasing managerial responsibility including an eight year period in Yellowknife and Iqaluit as Area Manager for Fisheries Management for the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, returning to Winnipeg prior to his retirement in 1996.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Officer Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1960. He served in HMCS Cabot for UNTD 1960. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/09/1963). He served in HMCS Cabot 1963. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (N) (NR). (He was released 1973.)
