He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (L) RN. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (L) RN. (He served on Loan to the RCN From the RN). He served in HMCS Shearwater for VX-10 Squadron as Squadron Air Electrical Officer 1960-62, (He was returned to the RN). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (E) (A/E) (L) RN. He was appointed as a Commander (E) (A/E) (L) RN (With seniority dated 30/06/1972). (He was released.)
