He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman (Officer Candidate UNTD) RCNVR 1945. He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1948. In 1945-1948 he served in HMCS Chippawa for UNTD. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (E) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 06/02/1949). (He was released.)
