He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 14/11/1949). He served in Royal Roads (Canadian Services College) For Duty as Officer-in-Charge Cadet Training Establishment 1954. He served in NHQ For Special Duty On Attachment to the Military Component of the Canadian Delegation to Viet-Nam 1956. In 1957-1959 he served in HMCS Naden as UNTD training commander, Victoria, BC.
