After his naval service he flew for an airline.

He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (P) RAN. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (SL) (P) RAN (With seniority dated 11/08/1967). He served in HMCS Shearwater for VS-880 Squadron. He served in HMAS Penguin 1968. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) RAN (With seniority dated 05/10/1968). He served in HMAS Albatross 1971. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (P) RAN. (He was released.)
