Biography
He was the brother of Tom Ransay. He was a very keen sailor in the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 18/08/1943) (Later backdated to 1942). He served in HMC LCI(L)-115 (In command) in 262nd Canadian LCI Flotilla for Operation Neptune. (He was present at the landings at D-Day (Operation Neptune). He served in several engagements in the Mediteranean and was torpedoed after the Oran Landings. He was picked up by a Norwegian freighter and taken to Gibraltar. He took part in commando landings in Italy and North Africa.).
