Biography
His home was in Toronto ON where he attended the University of Toronto, 1908-1912 and was an architect.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 10/01/1916) at Ottawa ON. He sailed on the Adriatic from New York 12/01/1916. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS 1915. He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant RNAS. He served in #3 Wing RNAS 1915. He served in #10 (Naval) Squadron 1917.

Anecdotes
He had 19 victories in World War One. With 10 Squadron’s ‘Black Flight’, Ellis flew Sopwith Triplane ‘Black Roger’. On two occasions he shot down 3 enemy aircraft in a single mission. He was shot down and killed 28/07/1917.
