He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 15/01/1950). He served in HMCS York for UNTD 1949-1952. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/09/1954). In 1954 he served in HMCS York. (He was released.)
