He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1955. He was appointed as an A/Instructor Sub-Lieutenant (MED) RCN(R). (He was released 1958.) (Transferred to RCN). He was appointed as an A/Surgeon Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/09/1962). He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant RCN. He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/05/1969). (He was released.)
