Biography
Bill Clearihue reports that "He'd had an array of jobs prior to and during his U of T years which saw him mining gold in Kirkland Lake, as well as stints ranging from South America to Baffin Island. He attended the University of Toronto graduating as a Civil Engineer in 1944."
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman (Officer Candidate UNTD) (With seniority dated 10/1943). In 1943-1944 he served in HMCS York for UNTD. (CFR). He was appointed as a Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR 1944. He served in HMCS Cornwallis on Executive Officers' Course 1944. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (SB) (E) RCNVR 1945. In 1945 he served at HMCS Scotian. (He was demobilized.)
