Biography
After his naval service he was a lawyer and QC in the law firm of Rohmer and Fenn in Toronto. He was the Vice-Chairman and CEO of Toronto Airways Ltd. He served as the Chancellor University of Windsor 1978-89. He was awarded an LLD (Hon) Windsor 1975. He was the Chairman Ontario Royal Commission on Book Publishing 1970-72. He was the Military Editor and syndicated columnist with Toronto Sun. Best selling author of several works of fiction and non-fiction.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Flying Officer RCAF. He served as a fighter pilot in Reconnaisance RCAF 1942-45, (He was demobilized). (Transferred to RCN(R)). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 14/02/1947). He served in HMCS Hunter as Commanding Officer UNTD 1946. (He was retired 1948), (Transferred to RCAF 1950). He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant RCAF (Reserve) as Pilot (Vampire) 1950. He was appointed as a Squadron Leader RCAF (Reserve) 1952. He served in #400 RCAF Squadron (City of Toronto) RCAF as Commanding Officer 1952. He was appointed as a Wing Commander RCAF (Reserve) 1953. He served in 411 Squadron (County of HMCS York) RCAF as Commanding Officer 1953. (He was released 1953). He was appointed as an Honorary Colonel 411 Air Reserve Squadron 1971. He was appointed as a Brigadier General (AR) (With seniority dated 01/04/1975). He served in NDHQ as Senior Air Reserve Advisor to the Chief of the Defence Staff and to the Commander of Air Command 1975. He served in Air Command as Commander Air Reserve Group 1976. He was appointed as a Major-General (AR) (With seniority dated 31/01/1978). He served as the Chief of Reserves of the Canadian Armed Forces 1978. (He was retired), (Transferred to Supplementary Reserve).

Anecdotes
In 1971 he was appointed Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel (and later Honorary Colonel) of 411 Air Reserve Squadron. On 22 December 2014, Major-General (Retired) Rohmer was named Honorary Advisor to the Canadian Armed Forces Chief of the Defence Staff. He was twice chancellor of the University of Windsor, serving a total of 13 years. In 1978 he negotiated the donation to the university of Conrad Black's collection of Duplessis papers in exchange for an honorary degree. Rohmer is the honorary Deputy Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police, the honorary Chief of Toronto Emergency Medical Services, Patron of the Toronto St. John's Ambulance (1978–2007), honorary Fire Chief of Collingwood, Ontario and honorary Detective of the Toronto Police Service. In 2012, the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs named General Rohmer the first honorary Chief of Paramedics in Ontario.
