He was instrumental in establishing the residency program at Danbury Hospital specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. Until his death, Dr. Goldberg continued to assist in gynecological surgeries at Danbury Hospital. Dr. Goldberg interned at Bishop De Goesbriand Hospital in Burlington, VT, and completed his residency at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital in Brooklyn, NY in 1958. The following year, he established his medical practice in Danbury. Aside from his private practice, Dr. Goldberg held several key posts at Danbury Hospital. He served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1972-1979, Acting Chairman of the department from 1982-1983, President of the Medical Staff from 1984-1986 and Chief of the Division of Gynecology. After founding the obstetrics and gynecology residency program, he was responsible for supervising the doctors-in-training at the Women's Clinic at the hospital. Dr. Goldberg also served as volunteer physician with Project Hope, working the Navajo Indian Reservation in Ganado, AZ. He later returned to the reservation as an independent volunteer physician. |
