Biography
He was educated in Port Arthur and Lindsay; attended University of Toronto (School of Practical Science), 1915‑1916;
 
Military Service
He was an Officer Cadet in the COTC. He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 19/01/1917) in Ottawa ON. He served in RNAS Redcar, 10/03/1917. He served in RAF Cranwell, 06/05/1917. He served in RNAS Frieston, 10/06/1917. He served in RNAS Dover, 22/06/1917. He served in #12 (Naval) Squadron, 6/07/1917. He served in #1 (Naval) Squadron, 11/07/1917. He was appointed as a Flight Commander RNAS 1918, (Transferred to RAF 1918). He was appointed as a Captain RAF 1918. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He has destroyed several hostile machines, and has also attacked and scattered parties of enemy infantry from low altitudes, on one occasion from a height of only 100 feet." He was awarded a Bar to the Distinguished Service Cross "For the skill and gallantry displayed by him on the 15th March 1918, when he attacked a formation of eight enemy aircraft, destroying two of the enemy machines. This officer has destroyed numerous enemy machines and is a very skilful and dashing fighting pilot."

Anecdotes
He had 25 victories during World War One. He was killed in action, 25/04/1918 during a test flight. He he had been personally congratulated by Winston Churchill who stated that: “Next to Major Bishop he was probably Canada’s foremost Aviator.”
