Biography
He enjoyed a long and influential career as a music educator in both secondary and post secondary schools. Rod's contribution to Canada's arts community also included teaching stagecraft at the Banff School of Fine Arts and UBC in the 1950s and 60s, as a trombonist in the Greater Victoria Concert Band and South Island Wind Ensemble (among others).
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman (Officer Candidate UNTD) RCNVR 1945. (He had second World War service) In 1945 he served in HMCS Unicorn for UNTD. In 1945 he served in HMCS Orkney. In 1946 he served in HMCS Ontario for sea training. (CFR) He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 02/06/1949). He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 10/08/1951). (He was released 1966.)
