After his naval service he became a Neurosurgeon. He served as Professor Emeritus - Neurosurgery - McMaster University, Hamilton, ON.

He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman (Officer Candidate UNTD) RCN(R) 1946. He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1949. He served in HMCS Star for UNTD 1946-1949. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/09/1949). He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/09/1951). He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant RCN(R). (He was released.)
