He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (E) (UNTD) (RCN(R)) (With seniority dated 24/01/1949). He served in HMCS Discovery for UNTD 1948-1951. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/09/1953). (He was released.)
