Biography
He lived and was educated at Oak Lake MB. He went on to St.John's Collegiate (Winnipeg) and Jarvis Street Collegiate Institute (Toronto) and attended University of Toronto (Applied Science), 1913-1915.
 
Military Service
He served in HMCS Niobe with the RNCVR, December 1915. (CFR). He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 03/02/1916) in Ottawa ON. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 03/02/1916). He served in #3 (Naval) Wing at Luxeuil and Nancy 1916. He served in #10 (Naval) Squadron 04/1917. He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 30/06/1917). He was appointed as a Flight Commander RNAS (With seniority dated 09/07/1917).

Anecdotes
He had 8 victories in the First World War including 3 destroyed. He was reported a missing-in-action after being shot down on 22/07/1917. Flying 10 Naval Sqdr. Sopwith Triplane, ‘Black Death’, he met a formation of Albatross. His aircraft was observed falling apart, assumed to have been hit by anti-aircraft shells.
