Biography
His home was in Red Deer, Alberta where he was a school teacher at the time of his recruitment. He attended the Curtiss Flying School, Toronto ON. He was awarded Royal Aero Club Certificate 2056 on 05/11/1915.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 05/11/1915) in Ottawa ON. He sailed from Montreal on the SS Missanabi 1915. He served in RNAS Eastbourne, 5 November 1915). He served in RNAS Dover, 10 January 1916. He served in #5 Wing, 11 March 1916. He was injured in Caudron accident, 14 May 1916. He served in RAF Cranwell, 27 September 1916. He served in RNAS Dover, 7 October 1916. He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant RNAS (With seniority dated 1917). He served in #5 (N) Wing. He served in RNAS Dunkirk; to #3 (N) Squadron, 29 April 1917. He was appointed as a Flight Commander RNAS (With seniority dated 30/06/1917). He served in #4 (N) Squadron, August 1917. He was wounded, 21 October 1917. He served in #204 Squadron, 15 April to 3 July 1918. He was appointed as a Major, RAF 1918. He served as OIC RCAF Leysdown Station, July 1918. He served in #2 School of Observation RNAS Manston, 14 September 1918. He was assigned to Repatriation Depot, 20 February 1919. He was transferred to Unemployed List, 15 March 1919. (He was demobilized.) (On 4 June 1917, Shook scored the first Sopwith Camel victory of the war when he shot down an Albatros D.III. On 22 March 1918, he shot down an Albatros D.V flown by Bertram Heinrich of MFJ 1.)
