He worked with the Pacific Coyle Navigation Co. Ltd. for G.H. French as a Deckhand in 1943, Imperial Oil Ltd. for Albertolite as Mess Boy 1943, St. Margarets Sea Training School Hubbards NS 1944, Cadet Officer 01/08/1944, Indentured to Park Steamship Ltd. and Western Canada Steamship Lines 1944, Navigation School Vancouver BC 1948, Certificate of Competency as Second Mate (Foreign Going) 01/02/1949, Gulf Lines Vancouver BC for Gulf Wing as Second Officer 1949, Canada Department of Fisheries as Second Officer 1949, CGS Stonetown (Weathership) as Third Officer 1950, CGS St. Catherines (Weathership) as Second Officer 1953, Navigation School 1954, Certificate of Competency as Mate (Foreign Going) 02/03/1954, After his naval service he worked for the BC Ferry Corporation as Second Officer at Langdale BC in 1972, BC Ferry Corporation as Master at Powell River BC 1975, BC Ferry Corporation as Chief Officer Relieving as Master at Langdale 1978, BC Ferry Corporation as Master (Northern Routes) in the Queen of the North & Queen of Prince Rupert 1990.
