Biography
After his retirement from the armed forces he served as Director of Administration of the Royal Military College of Canada from 1983-1986.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 1952). He served in HMCS Scotian for UNTD 1952-1954. He served in HMCS Stadacona for training 1952. He served in HMCS Wallaceburg for sea training 1953. He served in HMCS Stadacona for training 1954. (Transferred to the Canadian Army) He was appointed as a Second Lieutenant (AR). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (AR). He was appointed as Captain (AR). He was appointed as a Major (AR). He was appointed as a Major (AR). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Colonel (AR). He was appointed as a Colonel (AR). In 1989 he served as Commandant of the Canadian Forces School of Administration and Logistics. (He was retired in 1990.) (He was discovered to be colour blind and was released in 1954. He joined the Canadian Army and served 38 years.)

Anecdotes
Bill Clearihue reports that "He had 2 UNTD summers; 1953 and 1954. At the end of that second summer he was diagnosed with colour blindness and was told that he couldn't carry on in the Navy. He transferred to the Army, completed basic training at Camp Shilo and in 1955 was Commissioned as a Regular Force 2nd Lieutenant (Artillery Officer). After a series of domestic and foreign postings he found himself in Viet Nam in 1973 as a member of the International Commission of Control and Supervision, for which service he received the Order of Military Merit (Member) in that same year. From 1983-1986 he was the Director of Administration at RMC and from 1986-1989 was the Commandant of the Canadian Forces School of Administration and Logistics at CFB Borden at which time he retired from the CF as a Colonel and entered the Public Service in DND and elsewhere, where he continued on until 2013. In 2010 he received the Public Service Award of Excellence from the Clerk of the Privy Council. In 2014 he was back at RMC to receive an Hon D.Mil.Sci. "In honour of more than 60 years of Military Service"."
