Biography
He was raised in Toronto and Winnipeg. After retirement he lived on Bowen Island and the Sunshine Coast, recently returning to the North Shore. In 1952 he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Manitoba. On October 1, 1952 he joined IBM in Toronto, and enrolled in their 18 month training program to become a sales representative. He joined the company one month before they delivered their first computer. He worked successfully as a sales representative in Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg and as a Marketing Manager in Vancouver. In 1966 he left IBM to form his own consulting company - Computech Consulting Canada (now Sierra Systems). The next 29 years were spent working as a computer consultant and being involved in a number of entrepreneurial business ventures - a software company in Toronto and Ottawa - one of the world's first automated library systems - and nearly building a hotel at Whistler in 1971. He was the Author - The Untidies - Bonding A Nation (2003).
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 15/02/1949). He served in HMCS Chippawa for UNTD 1948-1951. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) 1951. He spent the summer of 1952 as a Navigating Officer in HMCS Cedarwood. The ship cruised the inside passage from Victoria to Prince Rupert several time conducting oceanographic studies with scientists aboard. (He was released.)
