He attended the University of Toronto. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Toronto University,

 

Military Service

He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 01/11/1916). He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant RNAS 1917. He served in #1 (Naval) Squadron 1917. He was wounded in action 08/11/1917. He served in #1 (Naval Squadron) (Later #201 (RAF) Squadron). He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant RAF 1918. He served in RAF Squadron 1918. He served in RAF Gosport for School of Special Flying 1918. (He was demobilized 01/02/1919).
