He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 27/09/1740). He was appointed as a Commander RN and served in H.M.S. Comet (Bomb Ship) (In command) 1744. He was captured by the Spanish while in command of H.M.S. Comet. He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 23/09/1745). He was appointed as a Commodore RN in 1755 and served as Commander-in-Chief of HM Ships and Vessels in North America (Pendant in H.M.S. Fougeux). He was present at the naval blockade of Louisbourg. He was appointed as Commander-in-Chief HM Ships on Coast of America to North Florida in 1762 (Pendant carried in H.M.S. Mars). He was promotd to Rear-Admiral of the Blue (With seniority dated 18/10/1770). He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral of the White RN in 1770. He was appointed in command of a Squadron in the Channel in 1772. He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral of the Red RN (With seniority dated 31/03/1775). |
