Biography
After his naval service he was a professional forester and at the time of his death, he was president of the Canadian Forestry Association of New Brunswick and had played a leading role in establishment of the association's new headquarters and tourist attraction in Fredericton, "The Tree House". Coming to Canada in 1948, he graduated in forestry from the University of New Brunswick in 1953 and became lifetime president of his class. He joined the Maritime Forest Ranger School in Fredericton in 1954 and was an instructor at the school for 35 years. He taught scaling, fire protection, safety and accident control, and supervisory skills, and he assisted in many other courses. He served on several provincial and national committees. He was a member of the Canadian Institute of Forestry and the Association of Registered Professional Foresters of New Brunswick. A past-president of the UNB Alumni and a former member of the university's Board of Governors.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Airman 2/c RNVR. He served in H.M.S. St. Vincent (FAA) for #41 Pilot Training Course. He served in USNAS Prosse Isle for Flight Training. He served in USNAS Pensacola for Flight Training. He was Awarded Wings. (CFR). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) (A) RNVR. He served in RAF Hawkinge for 855 RN Squadron 1944. He served in RAF Thorney Island for 855 RN Squadron 1944. He served in H.M.S. Daedalus for 855 RN Squadron 1944. He served in H.M.S. Indomitable for 857 RN Squadron 1944. (He was demobilized.)
