Biography
He was appointed as Extra Equerry to the King and Gentelman Usher of the Black Rod 10/1904.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet RN (With seniority dated 14/02/1855). He served in H.M.S. St. Jean d'Acre 1855. He was appointed as a Midshipman RN 1857. He served in the Indian Mutiney in the Naval Brigade. He served in H.M.S. Raleigh 1857. He was wrecked in South China in H.M.S. Raleigh. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 07/06/1861). He served in HM Gunboat Heron (In command) 1866. He served on Great Lakes during Fenian Rebellion 1866. He was appointed as a Commander RN (With seniority dated 26/04/1868). He served in H.M.S. Rattler 1868. He was wrecked in H.M.S. Rattler in Straits of La Perouse Japan 1868. He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 06/01/1875). He served in H.M.S. Discovery (In command) 1875 on Arctic Expeditions of 1875 and 1876. He served in H.M.S. Carysfort (In command) 1882. He served in H.M.S. Thunderer (In command). He served in H.M.S. Dreadnought (In command), He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 04/08/1890).
