He was the son of a police constable and worked in the Toronto water filtration plant and was educated at Toronto public schools, 1898 to 1906. |
Military Service |

He was accepted as an RNAS candidate, 18 August 1915. He had 33 minutes at Toronto Curtiss Flying School and was not considered qualified enough for even probationary rank. He was brought on strength, 10 January 1916 as Chief Petty Officer RNAS. He was considered unsuitable by the Admiralty upon arrival in UK and in March 1916 was returned to Canada. He finally succeeded in joining the RFC, 24/12/1917. He served with #99 Squadron, 21/04/1918 to 26/02/1919. He was appointed as an Acting Captain RFC, 4/09/1918). He was repatriated to Canada, 2/04/1919. (He was demobilized.) He served in the RCAF during the Second World War. |
