He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P), (Short Service Appointment 16/03/1951). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (P) (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/08/1946). He served in HMCS Cornwallis as Officer-in-Charge Officers' Divisional Course and Chief and Petty Officers' Leadership Courses 1954 (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate.)
