Biography
He was the son of Joseph Story. He settled in Canada after his retirement in 1912 at Guelph Ontario. He travelled extensively in Canada as Honorary President of the Navy League of Canada. He presided over a naval court martial in 1932. In 1934 he moved to Montreal QC.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet RN (With seniority dated 15/01/1872). He served at HMS Britannia for Training in 1872. He was appointed as a Midshipman RN (With seniority dated 19/06/1874). He served in H.M.S. Modeste for Training 1874. (He was a Midshipman of H.M.S. Modeste during operations in the Malay Peninsula, Perak Expedition of 1875-6 (Perak Medal and Clasp). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 20/06/1878). He served in H.M.S. Mosquito 1882. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant of H.M.S. Mosquito during Egyptian War of 1882 in command of a party landed at Chalouf, promoted to Lieutenant for gallantry. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 08/09/1882). He was highly commended in Despatches (Egypt Medal and Khedive's Bronze Star). He was a Lieutenant of H.M.S. Dryad during naval and military operations near Suakin 1884 (Suakin Clasp). He served in H.M.S. Achilles 1883 (Armour-plated Ship in the Channel Squadron). He served in H.M.S. Dryad 1884. He served in H.M.S. Indus 1885 (Guard Ship of the Reserve Fleet and Flagship of Admiral Superintendent Devonport). He served in H.M.S. Opal 1886 (3rd Class Cruiser on Australian Station). He served in H.M.S. Katoomba 1891 (3rd Class Cruiser for protection of Floating Trade in Australasian waters). He served in H.M.S. Boscowen 1894 (Training ship for Boys at Portland). He served in H.M.S. Colossus 1898 (2nd Class Armoured Cruiser). He served in H.M.S. Hearty (In command) 1900 (on special service vessel on fishery duties under the administration of the Admiral Superintendent of Naval Reserves). He was appointed as a Commander RN (With seniority dated 30/06/1896). He served in H.M.S. Resolution 1896 (1st Class Armoured Battleship in Channel Squadron). He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 01/01/1902). He served in H.M.S. Narcissus (In command) 1903 (1st Class Armoured Cruiser Portsmouth tender to Excellent as gunnery training ship). He served in H.M.S. Grafton (In command) 1905 (1st Class Protected Cruiser Portsmouth tender to Excellent). He served in H.M.S. London (In command) 1907 (Battleship at The Nore). He served in H.M.S. Canopus (In command) 1908 (Battleship in the Mediterranean). He was appointed as the Divisional Officer Eastern Coast Guard District (He served on the staff of the Admiral Commanding Coast Guard and Reserves) 1909. (He was retired in 1911). He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral (Retd.) RN (With seniority dated 18/09/1911). He was appointed as the Superintendent Esquimalt Dockyard, Superintendent Esquimalt Dockyard and Senior Naval Officer West Coast 1914. He was appointed as a Vice-Admiral RN (Retd.)
