Biography
He was a messenger at the time of his recruitment into the navy. After his naval service he was a civil servant working in the National Parks Branch, Ottawa ON.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RNCVR. He served in RN Barracks Devonport for training. He served in minesweeping operations in the English Channel. He was appointed as an Abe-Seaman RNCVR. In 1917 he served in HMCS Niobe. (He was knocked down by the exlosion at Halifax of the Mont Blanc on December 6, 1917.) (He was demobilized).
