He served in HMCS Naden 1940. He served in HMCS Stadacona 1940. He was appointed to H.M.S. Raleigh (Officer Training Establishment) (Mess 27 Collingwood) in 1940. He was appointed as a A/Leading Naval Airman RCNVR 1941. He served in H.M.S. St. Vincent for #23 Pilot Training Course. He served in RAF Luton for #14 Elementary Flying Training School. He was killed in action, after strafing an airfield in Pelembang (Java) Indonesia 24/01/1945. He had crashed his burning plane into a hangar of Japanese aircraft. He was recommended for the Victoria Cross but the award was denied because it could not be determined that he was still alive and in control of the aircraft in the final moments of the attack. |
