Biography
He was a draughtsman at the time of his recruitment into the navy. Before his naval service he applied to the Government Radiotelegraph Service on 12 Oct 1917. Wilfred already had some Telegraphist experience and could operate at 14 words per minute in the Continental Code. After the he was well known throughout Montreal and Eastern Canada in the electrical engineering and supply trade.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a W/T Learner RNCVR (with seniority dated 14/03/1918). In 1918 he served in HMCS Niobe for Training. He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Operator (4th Class) (RNCVR) (with seniority dated 10/06/1918). In 1918 he served in HMCS Seagull as Officer-in-charge. In 1918-1919 she served in HMCS Niobe. (He was demobilized 15/07/1919 at Halifax NS).
