Biography
In the Spring of 1951 he graduated with a BA from the UWO.

 

Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 23/01/1950). He served in HMCS Prevost for UNTD 1949-1951. (He was released.)

Anecdotes
He competed in the Canadian Track & Field Championships in the Relay representing the RCN 1951. Bill Clearihue Reports that "I find a J Donald Thornton as a Comptroller at GM Oshawa for many years, now deceased, but no info on his death, or a connection to our UNTD Cadet of the same name."
