Qualified as Chartered Accountant in 1952. Retired 31/12/1982.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Midshipman (A) RN (With seniority dated 01/05/1939). He served in H.M.S. President for Royal Naval College Greenwich for #6 Pilot Training Course 1939. He served in #14 Elementary Flying Training School (Tiger Moth) at Elmdon. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (A) RN, #5 Intermediate Flying Training School at Netheravon (Harvard and Fairey Battle). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (A) RN. He served in RNAS Lee-on-Solent and Pembroke Dock for Seaplane Training. He served in H.M.S. Birmingham as Walrus Pilot 1940. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (A) RN. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (A) RN, Squadron 754 (Yarmouth NS) as Commanding Officer of Air Gunner Air Firing Training 1943. He served in UK for Non-operational Flying Duties 1945.He served in HMCS Warrior as Flight Deck Officer 1946. (He was demobilized 1946.)

Aircraft Flown Service Aircraft Flown: Tiger Moth, Fairey Battle, Seafox, Shark, Seamew, Lysander, Miles Master II, Avenger II, Firefly, Harvard, Walrus, Swordfish, Roc, Anson, Hurricane XI, Barracuda, Seafire. (He became lost and had to ditch 200 miles off the coast of Africa. He was rescued by native fishermen and taken to Freetown Sierra Leone to rejoin his ship.)
