Biography
He attended St Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS in the Fall of 1946 and entered the UNTD at that time (seniority Jan 11 '47)
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman (Officer Candidate UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 11/01/1947). He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1948. In 1946-1949 he served in HMCS Scotian for UNTD. (Transferred to RCN) He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 10/10/1950). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN. In 1952 he served in HMCS Magnificent. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/03/1954). In 1955 he served in HMCS Niagara. He served in HMCS Shearwater For Duty With VF-871 Squadron 1956. In 1957 he served in HMCS Shearwater. He served in HMCS Venture. (He was killed at sea in a Banshee crash 25/02/1958.)

Anecdotes
Bill Clearihue reports that "Troy was a F2H-3 Banshee Pilot, flying with RCN Fighter Air Squadron VF-871 in HMCS Bonaventure. He was killed on active service in a flying accident, in Banshee 126428, on February 25, 1958, specifically; "Entered dense fog bank at 200 ft above ocean. No further communication. Crash area about two miles off the Jacksonville Florida Beach." The RCN obtained 39 used Banshees from the USN, taking delivery from 1955 to 1958. Between 1955 and 1962, 12 RCN Banshee Pilots were killed in flying accidents. Between 1949 and 1961, at least 80 USN Banshee Pilots were killed". "After Hurricane Irma in 2017 parts of his flotation device and parachute harness were found on a beach in Florida bringing closure to his case since no remains or wreckage were ever found previously."
