He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1948. In 1948 he served in HMCS Scotian for UNTD. He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 30/08/1949). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN(R) (With seniority dated 30/08/1951). He served in HMCS Scotian 1963. (He was released.)
