Biography
In 1914 he joined the Fisheries Department here, being first Quartermaster on the Galiano and then Boatswain.
 
Military Service
He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Seaman RN at age 14. He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RN. He was appointed as an Able-Seaman RN. He was appointed as a Leading Seaman RN. (He was retired.) He was appointed as a Chief Petty Officer RNCVR c1917. He served in HMCS Galiano as Boatswain 1917-1918. (He was lost in HMCS Galiano in a storm off Vancouver Island BC October 30, 1918).
