He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (A) (Temp.) RNVR. He served in USNAS Brunswick Maine for 1835 Squadron (Corsair) 1944. He served in H.M.S. Gannet for 1835 Squadron (Corsair) 1945. He served in RNAS Nutt's Corner for 1835 Squadron (Corsair) 1945. He served in H.M.S. Premier for 1835 Squadron (Corsair) for Deck Landing Training 1945. He served in H.M.S.
