He was living in Oakwood ON at the time of his recruitment.

He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1948. In 1948 he served in HMCS Cataraqui for UNTD. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 06/02/1950). (He was released.)
