Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant RNAS 1916. (Transferred to RFC 1918) He was appointed as a Second Lieutenant RAF 1918. He served in 204 (RAF) Squadron in 1918.

Anecdotes
Released by the Navy due to insufficient education, he returned to Canada, completed a school year and joined the RFC. Graduating as RAF Pilot in April 1918, flying Sopwith Camels with 204 Squadron.
