Military Service

He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman Naval Airman (With seniority dated 03/09/1949). He served in HMCS York 1949. He served in #2 Observers' Mate's Course 1950. He served in HMCS Shearwater and HMCS Magnificent for VS-881 Squadron as Observer's Mate 1951. (CFR). (Short Service Appointment). He was appointed as a Midshipman (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/06/1952). He served in HMCS Cornwallis for Junior Air Officer Basic Training Course 1952. He served in HMCS Quebec for Sea Training 1953. He served in RCAF Centralia for Pilot Training 1953. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (P) (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/08/1953). He served in RNAS Culdrose for Advanced Flying Training 1954. (He was the winner of the RCAF Station Centralia Siddeley Trophy for 1954. He was awarded the RN Lott Trust Award 1954 at H.M.S.
