Biography
He was living in Victoria BC at the time of his recruitment. He studied at Victoria College, UBC, and the London School of Economics. He worked for the Hydrographic Service on the CGS William J. Stewart along the coast of British Columbia, and in Britain worked for the British Council as a courier. From an early age he was a member of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club. In 1957 he joined the Department of Defence Production and subsequently worked for the Department of Trade and Commerce, the Brewers' Association and Export Development Corporation. In 1978 he was appointed Manager, Atlantic Region, opening a new office in Halifax NS. He was Measurer of the Tempest Class in the XXI Olympics at Kingston, and Vice-President Canadian Yachting Association.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 21/01/1949). He served in HMCS Discovery 1948-1951. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). He served in HMCS Carleton 1957. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/09/1954). In 1954-1958 he served in HMCS Carleton. He served in HMCS Carleton 1957. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/09/1962). In 1962-1963 he served in HMCS Carleton. (He was released.) (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate.)
