He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 02/01/1952). He served in HMCS Donnacona for UNTD 1951-1952. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 16/08/1957). In 1958 he served in HMCS Patriot. In 1963 he served in HMCS York. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN(R). He served in HMCS Malahat as Officer-in-Charge UNTD 1967-1968. (He was released.)
