He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Learner RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/03/1916). He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Operator (4th Class) RNCVR. He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Operator (3rd Class) RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/07/1917). In 1917-1918 he served in HMCS Niobe as Additional for Duty in the Huntress (Transport Ship) as Wireless Telegraph Operator. (He was demobilized.)
