He was appointed as a Midshipman (RFN) (With seniority dated 30/04/1707). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Royal French Navy) (With seniority dated 13/02/1709). He was appointed as a Capitaine de Fregate (Royal French Navy) (With seniority dated 01/11/1712). He was appointed as a Capitaine (Royal French Navy) (With seniority dated 17/03/1727). He participated in campaigns against Barbary pirates and in the West Indies. He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral (Royal French Navy) (With seniority dated 01/01/1746). In 1746 he served in the Trident (In command) in the squadron led by La Rochefoucald that intended to operate against the british colonies in Newfoundland and Acadia. He gathered five of the warships and most of the transports in Halfax after a severe storm and learned of Rochefoucauld's death. He was appointed as Acting Lieutenant-General of Naval Forces and commanded de la Rochefoucauld's squadron off Nova Scotia. (On 06/04/1765, after the Council of War lost confidence in him, he attempted suicide off the coast of Nova Scotia.) (He retired 01/03/1747). |
