Biography
In 1959 he graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BA (Hons) in History and Political Studies and in 1971 with a MA in the same faculty. Beginning in 1979 he was appointed to the first of many senior posts in the Canadian Forces as the National Vice President of the Maritime Defence Association of Canada. He also served as Vice Chairman of the Conference of Defence Associations 1979-1983. He was professor of political studies at the University of Manitoba for 32 years, specializing in Canadian government and international relations. He was active in labour management relations and as a mediator and arbitrator, was instrumental in settling several major labour disputes. He served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Workers Compensation Board for several years.
