Biography
He was the father of Rear-Admiral Thomas Harvey.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN in 1794. He was appointed as a Commander RN (With seniority dated 03/07/1796). He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 27/03/1797). He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 19/07/1821). He was appointed as a Vice-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 10/01/1837). He served as Commander-in-Chief North America and Newfoundland Station (Flag in H.M.S. Winchester) 1839. He was a member of the court martial of Admiral Byng in 1757.
