Biography
He Commanded a squadron carrying 4,000 settlers with Colonel HMCS Cornwallis as Governor to found Halifax Nova Scotia in 1749. He was elected as the MP for Portsmouth in 1747. He as created Baron Hawke of Great Britain in 1776.

He was appointed as an Admiral of the White RN (With seniority dated 21/10/1762). He served as First Lord of the Admiralty 1766-71. He was appointed as an Admiral of the Fleet RN 1768.
